Latest equipment purchases

Penrith Beekeepers Association has recently been successful in obtaining grants and awards for the furtherance of its work:

Penrith Lions Club 

£200 donation towards a polystyrene hive for the Association Training Apiary (September 2016)

Skipton Building Society’s ‘ Grassroots Giving ’ scheme 

£500 award towards the further development of the Association Training Apiary. (December 2016)

Eden District  Council Community Fund

£500 grant towards the purchase of a honey extractor which will be available for training sessions and for members to borrow. (January 2017)

Persimmon Homes Community Champions scheme

£1,000 awarded towards the purchase of specialist equipment (January 2017)

We would like to thank these sponsors for their generous support.  These funds will be used to purchase specialist equipment which will include:

  • A 9 frame electric honey extractor;
  • 2 polystyrene hives, to help the bees survive the cold, damp Cumbrian winters;
  • A steam wax melter;
  • A polystyrene nuc box;
  • A refractor to test the water content of honey.
